ARTER is delighted to support the École des Arts Décoratifs – PSL and DECATHLON in the scenography of the exhibition “Surface de réparation – Design pour un monde meilleur” presented at the Magasins Généraux.
Highlighting the results of three years of research and creation carried out by the Ecodesign & Creation Chair between 2022 and 2025, the exhibition showcases the work of a new generation of designers graduated from the School alongside that of DECATHLON’s Advanced Innovation teams. Curated by Alice Audouin and featuring an eco-designed scenography by the agency, the creations unfold across four sections — “Exploring Uses,” “Performing Material,” “Inhabiting the Sun,” “Fostering Cooperation” — in dialogue with a final section entitled “Probable Futures,” which presents the prospective explorations of DECATHLON’s Advanced Innovation. These approaches embody new forms of sensitive engagement and outline another ecology of design.
Based on the notion of exchange and adaptability, the scenography of Surface de réparation has been conceived as a genuine ecosystem: circularity of systems and materials, reuse and repurposing, a whole ensemble integrated within a sustainable life cycle.
Furniture pieces from previous exhibitions produced by ARTER have been upcycled and adapted to the project’s theme. Recycled and recyclable materials are used throughout, such as hemp-lime bricks echoing the scenography of “Regenerative Futures,” an exhibition presented at the Fondation Thalie on the occasion of its centenary. The proposed materiality embraces a logic of continuous transformation.
The use of rounded forms — particularly in the modular central structure designed by Procédés Chénel — offers visitors a fluid journey while visually expressing the concept of “circularity” at the heart of the design.
