To mark the centenary of Alexander Calder’s arrival in France and the 50th anniversary of his passing, the Fondation Louis Vuitton presents ‘Calder. Rêver en équilibre’, one of the most ambitious retrospectives ever dedicated to the artist.
Spanning over 3,000 m², the exhibition retraces five decades of creation, from the Cirque Calder of the 1920s to the monumental sculptures of the 1960s and 1970s. Across the entire journey, movement, light, gravity, and space are in constant interplay. Within Frank Gehry’s architecture, Calder’s mobiles bring the exhibition to life as a dynamic choreography.
Developed in close collaboration with the Calder Foundation, this exhibition continues the Fondation Louis Vuitton’s series of landmark monographic shows. For the first time, the entire building is dedicated to a single artist, extending the experience into the outdoor spaces as well.
ARTER ensured the delegated technical coordination and implementation of this exhibition.
